So are final show ended up being canceled due to late trains. Fitting.
So my last day in the loops was spend organizing costumes, dismantling my prompt book and saying farewell to cast and crew. We toasted off with a couple of drinks, I got on a bus and now I'm back in Vanland.
I'm done.
Now I'm back in Van and getting ready to move onto the next adventure...
Thanks for reading this blog and keeping me company as I tried to navigate the madness. I think I may have stayed in better contact with some people while I was out of town rather than when I was home.
I'm not sure what I'll do with this blog at this point. If I do continue blogging, I'll have to re-vamp this page or start a new one. I'll be sure to let you folks know.
Until then,
Thanks for the adventure Kamloops. Keep well all.

last show
Today feels a bit weird. Last show.
Cards are done, tickets are booked, and now I just need to finish my packing and strike my stuff at the theatre.
I'm excited to be home and still a piece of me is feeling sentimental about saying goodbye. I'll get over it I'm sure.
Six months is just such a long time. Its hard to imagine it being over.
There are just hours left of this adventure.

Welcome to October
Less than a week left here in the old loops.
I've been trying to think up some finalizing, all encompassing anecdote to wrap up this blogging business, but my brain has been failing me. I think if there is wisdom to be taken from this adventure then I am still too close to see it, or simply too tired. I am still holding out hope that there is some sort of golden learning to extrapolate from this madness, but only time will tell I guess.
I made it back to Van for a few days. The move was quick and painless and I am grateful for that. Thanks!
I intended to do some unpacking and reorganizing while I was home, but I couldn't bring myself to break the plastic seal on my belongings. Just the thought of unleashing bugs into my Vancouver home sends me to the brink of a panic attack and the risk just doesn't seem worth it. I know I cleaned everything very throughly, but believe it or not, I'm not perfect; so what if I missed something or didn't do it right? I've decided to wait till my steamer returns to me; so I can steam the beegeebies out of everything.
I spent most of my time at home while in Van. Catching up with the cat and my roommate. It was restful and homey and just what I needed.
I got back to Kamloops yesterday, got some errands done for the week and then spent an obscene amount of time browsing Michael's crafts. I went in to get some closing night card supplies and then 2 hours later I was still there. I get over stimulated in that store cause there is so much to look at and so many projects I want to make. Also, now that its Oct, there is Halloween EverYwHerE and I was thinking of all the cool decorations we could make for our party. Did you know that Martha Stewart makes crow decorations you can stick on your walls? Forget Halloween, I just want a Martha Stewart Murder themed bedroom! I refrained from buying anything other than my card supplies. I don't want to be packing more stuff. Besides, there's a Michael's in Van now; so I can go shopping when I get back.
Well I'm rambling now, I should get back to my cards.
5 more days!
peace

a few days off
I'm headed to Van tomorrow! YAy!
I may not blog while I'm home. I'm hoping to be out socializing with real live people and enjoying my city. I will check in again later in the week.
These few days off are well earned and much needed. Hopefully I'll be able to come back and charge through our last with some revived positivity and energy.
For you MBTI/ Naramata enthusiasts, this is where we're at: I'm living in the 'grip' (as are a few others I'm sure) and the ensemble is cycling through the 'control' phase of group dynamics. Everyone seems irritable. Perhaps with some rest I can restore some of my dominant functioning and then next week we will move into 'inclusion' and all be very polite.
Peace friends

scrubbing
So today has been filled with scrubbing windows, walls, fixing baseboards, cleaning out the fridge, all that sort of cleaning business you do before you move.
The floors will be the most work, but I'm not even gonna bother. My landlord will be showing the house next week and my roommate still has to finish moving out her stuff; so the floors would all be dirty again by the end of the month.
So mid afternoon, I'm taking a little break, thinking, 'I've got tons of time to get this done'
When it hit me.
This is my last weekend in this house!
Hooray!
I only hope and pray, and hope and pray some more, that all my stuffs are clean and that Monday's evacuation sees all the bugs left behind.
Later friends!

2 more weeks!
So here we are. 2 weeks left. Amazing!
And we're dark for most of this upcoming week; so it should be pretty easy.
Tomorrow is another understudy show, kind of. We have last year's SM subbing in for our other technician. I hope it doesn't turn into a show down. I'm really not that worried.
No show today. That's fine for me, gives me a chance to check some things off my list. I ventured out into the Loops today and it was sooooo windy! Seriously, crazily windy. It was the kind of wind where I actually had to stop and brace myself to avoid being blown over. It actually reminded me of living in Lethbridge. Wind is to Southern AB, what rain is to Vancouver, and it can drive people bonkers. I would take rain over wind any day, clearly I do.
See what boredom has reduced me to? I'm blogging about the weather!
Monday I'm headed to Van, with all my stuffs in a truck *thanks D : )
That means I can side step all the Greyhound, shipping, logistical stress and just get out of town.
I'm often convinced that the hard way is the right way and usually that it true. In this case however, I choose to believe that easier doesn't mean wrong, it just means easier. And some ease in my life sounds pretty good about now.
Onwards and upwards folks! see you soon!

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!
yAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAArgh!
that's what I have to say about today's show.
and here's my piece of wisdom from that.
Theatre in Canada is a close knit industry.
If you're lucky to last long enough to make a career of it, you will earn a reputation.
Make sure its a good one.

Ah yes!
I had forgotten that one of the pain in the a$$ parts of moving is having your landlord and a bunch of strangers tour around your house. So annoying.
In other news, tonight marks our big show count down! We have 10 shows left!
That may seem like a lot in a regular theatre run, but we started the season with a hundred and something. I only have to watch this show for 10 more hours and 50 minutes.

Day off
Today is one of the last days off I'll be enjoying here in Kamloops.
I have one more full week of shows coming up, then a few days in van, a few more shows in the loops and then home again home again.
I anticipate I will be fairly busy in the next couple of weeks. I have shipping to organize, end of show business and paperwork to sort out, cleaning to do and travel logistics to organize. (The transitional stress has given rise to some disturbing dream activity, but swap the melting puppies for piglets suffocating in zip-lock. There is something seriously wrong with my imagination.)
Sort of the same crap I had to deal with at the beginning of the season, but with less emotional turmoil and a positive end result to look forward to. Though today I am feeling a bit like the woman in the 'Canadian heritage moment', "We'll never get there!"
I can do this.
I have my master moving list complete. (if you've ever had the joy of moving cmax style, you know the master list makes for a smooth and organized move.)
One problem I've come to is how to move with bags and rubbermaid bins rather than boxes. Greyhound and I are trying to work it out. ( unfortunately my luggage didn't survive the great bug infestation of 2011; so I literally only have tupperware to travel with).
Also problematic is the recent turn in the weather. In August, when I did my decontamination shopping, I only picked up summer items, and flip-flops also seemed like an easy and sanitary choice. However, flip-flops are not great fall/ rainy weather shoes and I have been FrEeziNg this week. So today, I picked up a pair of little boys canvass slip on shoes to tide me over till I make it home. (when buying children's shoes I generally opt for the little boy options cause somehow wearing little girl runners just seems ridiculous to me.) The new shoes should help. My beloved sweaters however, will simply have to remain plastic wrapped until I return to Van.
And before I sign off, here are this week's movie recommendations from Cmax. (Yes this is the first and likely last week I'll be offering movie recommendations. And Yes, I've watched enough of them this week to be able to pick out favourites. Its one of the few ways I can occupy my time in my barren, bug infested house; so cut me some slack. Beside these two were quite good!)
- At home by myself with you- a cute and quirky Canadian OCD love story.
- Fat head- the anti-vegetarian, thought provoking rebuttal to the documentary 'Supersize me'

rollin rollin rollin
Well Sept is rolling along. We are doing more understudy shows this week. Yep... I know. It really isn't that big of a deal though, cause all the understudy shows are fully operational at this point. (Well unless I get hit by a bus. They are still working on a sub for me in the event I have to miss a show. How much you wanna bet it never happens?)
We technically only have 15 shows left. crazy. Though counting down shows feels a bit deceiving, in that I have more than 15 days left in Kamloops.
I'm restless. I'm sick of being here.
For one, I think I need to spend less time in this G-dforsaken house, its flat out maddening. I am an introverted person, but if I don't have any people around, then I start feeling like I'll implode.
I'm trying to fill my idle time thinking about all the lovely things I will do/ see/ have when i get back to Van.
1. See/ hang out with/ talk to/ harass/ make fun of/ play with my roommate
2. sleep in my own bed.
3. See/ hang out with/ talk to/ harass/ make fun of/ play with my friends. (sorry friends, you're third only due to sleep deprivation and burn out)
4. see my Ernie
5. Do laundry in our own machines which are silicate free and conveniently located in our bathroom.
6. Play Mario party!
7. Go to theatre in the city
8. Ride dependable and frequent public transit.
9. Go running on our track
10. Check out the new gym on Fraser.
11. Eat sushi and bubble tea after all aforementioned physical activity.
12. be able to cut back my sunscreen consumption.
13. Go out for a good cup of coffee
14. Go to my church on sunday morning
15. Go to Granville Island/ opus/ art galleries/ the beach
I'm feeling better already just from making the list.
3 and a 1/2 weeks left!

Off with their Heads!
Well the first day of the last month has come and gone and I'm feeling pretty positive about September.
I've been a ruthless disciplinarian as of late and that seems to have had an effect. I've been respectful and calm, but also incredibly assertive about what I will and will not put up with in the work place.
a little bit of fear does the hierarchy good.
Today was easy.
Today I was queen of the castle.

too excited to wait
So I realize that it is just barely Sept 6th, but I simply couldn't wait till tomorrow morning to start celebrating. It feels like waiting for Christmas to arrive.
Sept 6th. That marks the official 5 month mark here in Kamloops.
ONE MONTH !!! LEFT!!!! YAAAYAYAYAAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!
Now I get to start counting in weeks, soon it will be days, soooon I will be home!
I'm already packed and starting to ship items back home to Van. I have a few days off at the end of Sept; so I'll make one more trip out to Van, then back for a few more shows in Oct and then we're done.
Oh boy. I cannot believe that I've managed this long.
Weeks people. Weeks!

patience is a virtue
My patience has been worn very thin this week and I find myself struggling to maintain my professional composure. I am finding myself needing to explain the fundamentals of theatre professionalism and that strikes me as ridiculous. Show up on time ready to work. Its a simple policy. I shouldn't need to explain or justify that one to anyone.
I am grateful to have friends here this week. They have been a blessing.
I've be able to blow off some steam, get out to have some Fun, and distract my weary mind from this bloody show. Thanks friends.
New favourite game. The questions game (generally referred to as 20 questions, but we are non-conformists and choose to set our own question limit... aka, infinity)

Management 101
Today was a royal pain in my ass.
Its bad form to claim compassion and then break basic labour laws in the same breathe.
Its weak management to make choices based on what is the easiest option, or because you're afraid to rock the boat, or because you assume someone else will just pick up the slack. What's worse still, is to make no decisions at all and just hope things will work out.
I take strong issue with lacking integrity, especially in the work place. I understand that life is not always so cut and dry, but work is simple. There are rules, there are policies, you follow them.
If they don't fit the situation, then fine, change them.
But then you talk about it, consider the implications and options available and then you make decisions that are ethical and effective for all parties. You communicate, you plan.
'Oh its a miracle! it worked out!'
No, not a miracle, its called me, figuring out your mess and getting it done.
And in the end its me who sacrifices my basic labour rights.
How very compassionate of you.

Another one bites the dust!
Seriously this production should have been a reality show.
The drama of it all is simply sensational! The ratings would have been killer! The characters! You can't write this kind of craziness.
We sent another packing... The 'T's stepped in and said 'no, all feelings aside, these are the rules we must live by' (ok so I was the only one who said that, but the feelers appreciated my logic and my plan for action)
And now we have temporary people in, we are doing more rehearsals and we're also preparing for more understudy shows. Blah!
Did I mention that I'm sick? I feel like I've been hit by a truck today. Too bad for me, there is noooooo way that I can be missing shows this week; so I'll just have to suck it up.
Surprisingly though, morale on the show seems stable. I think we've all become so accustom to the never-ending drama that we can roll with pretty much anything. Its amazing what you can get use to.
Is it saturday yet? yikes.
I have friends coming to visit this weekend. I promise I will do my best to be fun, maybe even aim to make it on the 'awesome' list. ; ) A
So it goes friends.
Talk to you again soon.

Try Me
How selfish and arrogant do you have to be to get behind the wheel after a couple of drinks?
I travel those roads. I have friends and family who travel on those roads.
You may choose to risk your own life that way.
But how dare you make that choice for the rest of us.
don't think I'd call the cops on your ass?
Try me.....
Done.

Never ending rehearsals
Long week. Like that's a surprise.
I've been swamped at work, rehearsals, Q-2-Q's, new equipment... yarg.
And it seems there will be more to come in the upcoming weeks. One would think that we'd have the show ready by now, being that we're almost five months in, but that would be foolishness.
It looks as though we will be replacing yet another member of our team; so we keep rehearsing.
I'm tired.
I honestly can't think of any other witty or exciting anecdote to add.
Peace all

Thank goodness for Fridays
Its Friday folks! Yay!
That means tomorrow I get a day off, and this week, that feels well deserved.
This week has been crazy busy and stupidly stressful. It seems to have plateaued at this point and for that I am grateful. We are still prepping rehearsals and fighting technical issues but there's nothing that I can do to make that easier at this point.
There is also order at home. It doesn't feel clean by any stretch, but order will do.
At this point I am starting to plan my return to Van. Packing, organizing...
I still have a full 7 weeks left here, but I don't plan on spending one extra night here than I have too; so a good plan can make that happen.
I might have some friends out next month, which would be great, but I don't want to send them home with any unwanted travellers. Then I make one more trip to Van, one more week of shows after that and then its all over.
I have a feeling that once I get to September things will move fast and it will really start to seem like we're in the home stretch.
As a complete side note, can I just say how amazed I am with myself that I've been so consistent with this blog? I really thought I would get so wrapped up in the show that I would fall out of the habit rather quickly.
So time to jet, the theatre calls. Saturday, I'm looking forward to seeing you again soon.

Then I make one more trip to Van, one more week of shows after that and then its all over.

yargh!
Well the love in at the theatre was short lived.
Technical fiascos, drama and buddy who won't get off my back for a second.
I made the mistake of rolling my eyes during this evening's lecture and he let me have it.
Funny though. He doesn't realize that when I know I'm right about something, I don't budge.
Keep talking buddy.
I came home, had a glass of wine and will let it go for the day. You can't fix stupid.

aaaaah
So as it happens, the universe tends to provide some reprieve when it knows I can bare no more.
My roommate came home today and we hugged out our bugging situation. (Really we drank wine, sat on out stoop, got caught up and cursed the little f*&$^*ers that are compromising our sanity)
We also had one of our best shows tonight. Still fighting with some technical difficulties, but I gave a bunch of notes and people actually listened to me and treated me with, what is that? Respect?!
aaaaah. Thank you Universe.
I think I might actually be able to sleep tonight.

Just because I realized that many of my blog titles are down right depressing.
Maybe this uber cheery one will help balance the score.

is it October yet?
Our bug man came on Fri.
we talked about bugs. looked around the house. Kind of what I expected.
Then I left and he doused my house with pesticides.
The house felt pretty gross that first night back. A toxic war-zone.
Today was my day off and I've started to put the house back together. Most of my belongings have been decontaminated at this point, though I do still have a batch in the freezer. Now the trick will be keeping them that way while I wait out the quarantine. It will be a few months yet before I know for sure that they're gone. In the meanwhile, I have to stay in the house and sleep in my bed. The treatment is more effective if there are people around to entice the bugs out of their hiding places. It just doesn't make for a very restful sleep, and I'm already feeling completely burnt out.
Our show is back into rehearsal prep at the moment. A few different reasons. One of which is prepping the understudy show that we have not run yet. It's the most complicated one too; so I'm feeling that work load at the moment.
And what's with all the crazy shows this week? Power outages, equipment failing (people failing), props and costumes breaking? The show is literally starting to fall apart and I get the feeling that everyone has had about enough. Its like the week off just gave everyone a moment to realize how much they hate being here and then we came back and there's still so much to go.
I am ready to be done.
I'm exhausted, lonely and uncomfortable and at the same time, I am also creatively and professionally frustrated.
I stayed on this project because I refused to let it break me. Though I may still be here, I do, in the end, feel broken. I wonder if I've accomplished anything by coming on this G-d forsaken adventure.
If I click my heels three times do you think I can go home?
oh wait...all my shoes are in bags being decontaminated...never mind.

close
I'm getting there.
Our bug man comes Fri. Until then I just keep cleaning cleaning cleaning.
I am feeling less overwhelmed by the situation at this point, for which I am grateful.
I do not cope well with chaos. Now I've got some semblance of an organized system to keep the contamination contained and that really helps my brain.
I think I am single handedly keeping Ziplock and Rubbermaid in business at the moment. I really only leave my house when necessary because it is such an elaborate production to decontaminate myself before I leave. It just seems easier to stay home.
Oh, and today's fun show!!
We had two power outages before the show even started. So ridiculous. It means that I have to completely re-set the computer and all then lights when that happens. I did three lighting checks and presets before we even started the show. Seriously?
And we are getting into more rehearsals for our final understudy show.
Oh how I miss the vanilla days of July.
Actually, I don't. I'd rather be stressed and busy than bored and lonely.
Did I mention I have less that two months of this left?
I can do this

sims check in
When 'The Sims' first came out, I was briefly caught up in the novelty of the game. Creating little homes with imaginary families. The fun of it soon turned twisted when my friends and I discovered that you could make the little people do crazy and reckless things and then stand back and watch them descend into madness. For one poor Sim, that meant never being allowed to sit or lay down to sleep. Our Sim eventually developed narcolepsy and would fall asleep in strange places until we would frantically hit the 'wake up' command to disturb their slumber. Exhausted, little Sim would throw a tantrum over having been woken up and then would continue to pace fitfully around their house.
I feel like that Sim.
I think there might be a Sim G-d out there somewhere taking their revenge against this sadistic gamer.

chaos invites chaos
Greetings all
I've had a bit of a crazy week, thus the absent blogs. So to catch you up.
This past week was my big, 'week off' summer vacation. It has been less of a vacation than I anticipated. What did I do this week?
I cleaned.
Normally speaking, I am two quirks away from crazy. (thanks Seinfeld)
This week, I feel like I may have crossed that bridge.
Last Wednesday, I was up, middle of the night, and found a suspicious bug in my Kamloops bathroom. You know the kind. So I trapped it. Sealed it into a canning jar and duck taped the top closed. Then came the insanity. I started bagging everything and washing everything. I stayed up for 72 hours straight doing this (minus one, 1+1/2hr exhaustion induced nap). I phoned my land lady to bring in some professionals to assess the situation and then I left town.
I took only what I needed with me; cards, phone, some cash (all of which had been thoroughly de-contaminated, including the cash in my pocket) and headed to vancouver. I picked up everything else in van, de-contamintated those items and then started frantically cleaning my house in Van, just in case.
I am now the crazy zip-lock lady. Everything I own goes in a zip lock. I shower before I leave the house, and then I shower again when I get home. And my house in Van isn't even buggie. *sigh* Some vacation.
Tomorrow morning I head back to Kamloops to continue to deal with the situation there. We did have a proper inspection and they confirmed my worse fears. We have bugs. Though aside from the one I managed to trap, they could see no other signs of an infestation and no one has been bit at our house; so they believe the issue is a small one to deal with.
small. Ha!
'Well there's no way to know for sure.'
'There are no guarantees'
'Anyone can pick them up.... Anywhere'
'You just have to trust that I know how to do my job'
That's the essence of the conversation I had with the exterminator. 'Trust me' That one is my favourite. I do not trust; so I clean. E-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g.
The problem is I can't tell at this point when or if something is clean. How do I know? I mean really. So I clean it again. and again
If I could live in a bubble at this point I would.
I think these next few weeks will be tough and busy.
I did manage to do some fun stuff in my week off. Art galleries, movies, arts and crafts, amazing dance shows and some quality time with friends. Thanks all.
two more months.
I can do this.

refreshed
Well I ran away from Kamloops over the weekend.
Much better.
- I saw some friends in Van. (Miss you L)
- Caught up on friend's rehearsals and upcoming shows. (So Much dance and theatre in Van at the moment! Yay!)
- Slept in my own bed. (My beautiful, hypoallergenic memory foam queen sized bed in my cool, quiet, dark bedroom. Sleep ensued.)
- I went to a ‘girl drink drunk’ party. (please mind the gender slur, it’s a kids in the hall reference)
- Played midnight badminton with my roomie in the back yard (until hoodlums and raccoons persuaded us back into the house)
- Partied Mario style (of course)
- And even learned how to play ‘Crazy 8s’ (Can you believe I didn’t know how to play that game?)
A lot of fun and socializing which was just what the doctor ordered. I feel refreshed now.
Today I’m actually cleaning, trying to take care of all the business I neglected last week.
This will be another short week of shows and then I get my official summer break. I’ll be back in Van in just a few short days!
K. I should get back to the windows. Break over.
Talk to you later
Keep Well
Peace

Funny story
So the other day in Kamloops, some totally random buddy on the bus called me
'a four eyed b!tch'.
Now Three things.
1) it was honestly unprovoked, which isn't always the case when people start hurling names at me.
2) I was more confused then offended. (I've been called worse and it won't be the first or last time that someone calls me a 'b!tch')
3) I wasn't wearing my glasses-glasses (surprise) I was wearing my sunglasses.
So here's my question.
Does the slanderous remark 'Four Eyes' apply to sunglasses? Maybe prescription sunglasses I could understand, but just regular shades?
If 'Four Eyes' is meant as a derogatory term then it implies that wearing glasses is an unpopular choice. Now for me, wearing glasses is an unpopular choice, just because it is. But that dislike only applies to my prescription glasses not my Sunglasses. I like wearing my sunglasses. I feel kind of gangster. Perhaps I'm wrong (I doubt it) but I thought it was sort of universally accepted that sunglasses are cool. So; if wearing sunglasses is a popular choice then why would it be insulting to comment on the fact?
Any thoughts?
The punk's lack of logic is bugging me. If you're going to insult me, at least make sense when you do so. Unless his ultimate goal was to annoy the crap out of me, then mission accomplished.

enough already
This cabin fever is simply too much. I'm blowing this popsicle stand. Let someone else hold the fort while I'm away.
k. That's all the clever structural associations I could make. Thought there'd be more.
In case I haven't been clear about my current predicament. I'm bored.
enough already.
I'm getting out of town for a couple of days before I go batty.
If I show up on your doorstep... please entertain me.

going loopy
So yet another cancelled show tonight.
Not that I mind a night off, but I'm officially bored.
I have plenty of things I could do.
-clean my house
-scan photos (first have to figure out why my scanner doesn't work)
-laundry
-play with psycho cat
-go for a run
-put screen up in the windows
-mow the lawn
-work on play development
-work on fall applications.....
I've settled on streaming old episodes of law and order.
I don't feel like doing anything really. I wish I could just hang out with my friends and relax, but I can't. I have colleagues in this town, but not friends per say. I do have a roommate but she is busy and has a life and children and actually I haven't seen her in days.
Normally I am a pretty introverted person; so it doesn't bother me, but I do actually feel people deprived.
Its making me a little loopy.
Stupid town.
Less than 3 months left. Soon I will be back in my own bed, living my own life, playing nintendo with my friends till I'm dizzy. I can hardly wait.
Now back to Law and Order.
I'll get cleaning in a bit...

nocturnal lament
So its the middle of the night and I'm up, restless and sleepless.
Common circumstance as of late.
I think I might actually be nocturnal. I seem to come home after the show, exhausted, thinking I'll write my reports and head straight to bed. It never really works out that way though. I sit in front of my computer for a bit, get myself ready for bed, and then all of a sudden I'm wide awake.
Maybe I'm missing some crucial window to get myself to bed, or perhaps turning on my computer is somehow revving up my brain and messing with my sleep cues.
I think I've tried every reasonable means to adjust my sleep habits and nothing has really had much impact.
Its almost 4am.
I'm tired of feeling so tired all the time and yet so sleepless when I should be sleeping.
I'm up every morning between 8:30- 9:30am. Not super early, but pretty good by my standards. I get plenty of exercise and fresh air, my caffeine habit is under control and I have a strong grasp of the importance of good sleep hygiene. I have even done an online CBT course for insomnia through the Harvard Medical Centre (after much urging from my GP) to no avail. *stupid-know-it-all-Harvard-Doctors telling me I probably fall asleep much earlier than I think I do and that I'm not really still awake at 5 or 6am.*
I am still awake.
sleep typing perhaps? Is that a thing? Useless.
Has anyone out there ever dealt with persistent or chronic insomnia? How did you get to sleep? I'm open to suggestions.
ugh.
alright time to turn this machine off.

coach christie
Well folks, this month is turning out to be pretty vanilla.
Not a lot of drama and a fair number of cancelled shows due to late trains and low attendance.
So how to spend my time?
I'm trying to get some play development work done and starting to plan for the fall when I return to my beloved home, but that work is feeling a bit tedious at the moment.
What am I loving is my new found motivation for exercise. I'm trying to work up to running the track at the park near our house. The path is better suited for walking or biking though as it's paved and a bit hard on the joints to go for a run. I am walking it at the moment, along with two exercise buddies whom have taken to calling me Coach Christie. giggle. (I wear my Cmax t-shirt to heighten the effect). The track is 3.1Km for the large loop; so we do a couple of those intercepted by sets at the hydraulic circuit stations. (Yes those are part of the park, very cool). Not a bad work out. I have taken to topping off the morning with a bit of P90, just to get the endorphins flowing.
I am also looking into acquiring a mini tramp. Apparently they are a very good low impact work out for runners. That and I love trampolines.
I had one when I was younger and bounced on it for hours on end. We affectionately called it 'The steak'. Ha! I don't remember where that came from, I think it was code for something, 'trampoline', perhaps.
Well that's all I suppose. I need to get my butt to the theatre. Hope this finds you all well. Write again soon

3 months
So yesterday marked the 3 month mark of my Kamloops adventure! Yay! That means we're halfway folks!?!
That makes me deeply happy.
I can't quite see the finish line yet, but from now on I know that there will be more days behind me than in front of me.
In the spirit of celebration, my Kamloops roomie and I made our way to her mom's house (who is currently away on vacation and has a much nicer house than us).
We lounged in the back yard, enjoying some fresh air and drinking some Granville Island brew. FYI, The Granville Island brewery has come out with a really great summer ale ( 'False Creek Raspberry ale') and I highly recommend it. Advertisement over.
Once the sun was gone we moved indoors and watched our good old ws2002 tape. We've been trying to watch it for a while but hadn't found the time for it. I giggled. We all looked like babies in that video and our voices sounded full of hope and uncertainty. I get a bit sad when I watch that tape (which is why I hardly ever watch it). Sad cause I miss all those people like mad, even now, and also cause the sense of freedom that came with that experience has been hard to recreate in my life. I do have a very good life, and good people in my life, and WS was still somehow different. Hard to explain I guess.
We ended up spending the night. 1) cause we had been drinking but also 2) It was unG-dly hot in Kamloops yesterday and our house was unbearable.
I'm not a stranger to the okanagan summer heat, but somehow I can never quite get use to the stifling air or the restless sleeps.
I do remember having one summer like that in Vancouver. Ugh. The heat lasted for weeks and my roomie and I lived in the top level of an unshaded house. We sweltered.
So yesterday was quite lovely. Shade and beer and sundresses. That's what I call summer.
Keep well folks
only 3 months left to go. Whooohoooo!

Whooohoooo!

Whew!
Alright blog
it is time that you and I spent some quality time together!
So I've been busy, busy, busy. Traipsing around, visiting, working and now I'm in Kamloops, for a few weeks, just doing the show.
Over a week ago now, I went to Ellison Park in Vernon to watch some colleagues take on the Xterra triathlon. So amazing! It is mind boggling for me to watch athletes in their prime accomplish such terrific feats. Mountain biking, mountain running and swimming in ice cold waters, and all before noon. I was proud of myself just for getting up so early to watch them! I felt very inspired by the whole event and had a brief thought that I would try the Kelowna Xterra, but by the next day I had come to my senses and thought, no way in hell. I think I would need a whole year of training to prepare for something like that, and really this summer feels exhausting enough already.
Still very amazing to watch.
I did also hit up Vancouver again to visit friends and offer my well wishes to the now newly weds. Fun times. Congrats to my former husband and his new wife! I'm sure you will both be very happy together. I was sad to miss the actual day, but I was thinking of you and from what I can tell from the pictures, it looks like everything went smoothly
Then came the long weekend. Happy Birthday Canada! I headed down to Naramata with my Kamloops roomie to get in some more visits and spend some time at the beach. Too cold for swimming yet, at least for me, but beautiful and relaxing none the less. We also explored the the Penticton night life while we were there (lame) but I did get some pool action in; so it wasn't a total wash. I think I'm too old for clubs now. Or too cool, or sophisticated, or something. Sticky dance floors, monotonous and excessively loud house music, super drunk children and bad beer, really don't do anything for me at this point.
K, rant over. It was an experience and at least I was in good company.
We did get a chance to check out some of the other fun happenings around the city too. The lovely used bookstore, Gyro park and a bit of sushi. It was a fun day.
The highlight in Penticton though was most definitely Cirque du Soleil's Dralion on Saturday night. I've never seen one of their shows before and holy crap! have I been missing out. So amazing! Again, amazing athletes, dancing and performing acrobatics that completely boggled my mind. Pure entertainment and spectacle and so proudly canadian.
So now, I'm back and focused on the task at hand, getting through the last few months of our little show. We're getting close to the half way mark folks! Very exciting indeed.
I'm feeling a bit tired, but motivated and capable; so I'll make it though. I need to vamp up my physical activity and get more running in, but otherwise I'm feeling a bit more balanced here in Kamloops.
Alright. Gotta jet and get this show going for tonight. Keep well friends and I'll blog again soon.
Peace

More Travels
Greetings friends,
Well I'm off to Vancouver again tonight. YAy! going to see some friends and get some errands done in the city. I'm feeling a bit exhausted from all this traveling around, but tis the season (being wedding season and all).
I was in Edmonton this past weekend for another wedding and I turned out to be a big cry baby. Who knew? Maybe I'm getting soft in my old age. It was a fun trip though and I wish the happy couple all the best.
Tomorrow I'm crashing another wedding party and I'll try to better keep my composure. The actual wedding is on Friday, but a I have a show that night; so I'm pre-wedding partying.
This upcoming weekend I'm going to try to get to Vernon. A couple of my colleagues are doing a triathlon I'm thinking of going to cheer them on and take pics for them.
People who do marathons and triathlons amaze me. I would really love to give one ago myself, but I don't know that I have the guts for it.
So, life here continues to go along.
It has settled down again, or so it seems. I really should stop saying that though cause I seem to just be asking for trouble when I do!
Oh AND.. Yay! to all the lovely PT and Atrainers for their success at last night's Jessie awards in Vancouver! Good Work!
Talk to you again

I'm a grown up
So this really has nothing to do with Kamloops, but rather my life in general.
I recently left my twenties behind to join the world of grown ups and I'm feeling quite good about it.
Now the truth is, that I've been telling everyone for years that I'm practically 30 (much to my friends chagrin) ; so now that I'm actually 30 it doesn't really feel like much has changed.
When I turned 29, that felt scary. It felt like there was some sort of looming/ inevitable midlife crisis that was bound to happen. I came across entire self help sections in bookstores, lined with titles about the trauma of turning 30. Yikes! "Is it really going to be that bad," I thought to myself?
No.
I simply feel like I finally belong in my own skin. Having felt like a grown up for so long, now I just feel comfortable.
I did have lots of plans that I figured I would have finished by the time I hit 30, but now that the deadline has past, it feels like the pressure has too.
I thought I would be all finished with school at this point (also thought I'd be a lawyer). Thought I would have gotten my driver's licences, dropped a few of my bad habits, shaved my head once, gotten a tattoo, be making plans to buy a house, have written a least one play, finished reading 'war and peace' and the 'complete works of shakespeare'.
Really, not a big deal that I've missed the date, for the most part. And really, I don't regret how I chose to spend my time in my twenties. I traveled some, did some school, am on the right path as far as my career is concerned and that feels like enough.
I'll get to the rest of it. It's still all on the list, its just that now I don't feel so rushed. So now that I don't feel so frantic about trying to get everything accomplished, I'm going to try and enjoy myself a little bit more.
Now with all of that said, I did feel a need for some change. Call it vain or superficial, but I have put some significant effort this past year into updating my wardrobe. Getting rid of clothes left from my teens, and ones that don't fit. I've have also made a concerted effort to go shopping for grown up clothes and clothes that actually fit. And today, I cut my hair and said goodbye to my uber long plain jane locks that looked like they belonged on a 12 year old. So now I have grown up hair too.

So see ya later 20's ! No midlife crisis here, just a bit of an upgrade and on we go.
30's I can't wait

An exercise in Gratitude
I am loved
I am safe
I am free
I am want for nothing ( I have a roof over my head, a job, money in my pocket and a sense of purpose in my life)
I have some of the world's greatest friends. They help me find reasons to laugh, they hold me up when I falter and they help keep me in check with myself.
I still get I.D'd
I have seen only two spiders in our new house.
I am grateful for road trips.
For fans on hot okanagan summer nights
For freshly mowed lawns
For stunning rainbows and desert rainstorms.
For hymn book sing alongs
For buses that run on time.
For art supplies and handmade cards
For roommates who clean the kitchen so I don't have too.
For stanley cup excitement
For my sense of faith
For sisters who I love more than anything in the world
For my magic bullet blender and my Nori steamer. I know right?
For Mario parties and board game nights
For music, in all its varieties, but especially Sondheim, Fiona Apple and Jethro Tull
For my curiosity and my insatiable thirst for learning
For teachers who put up with me
For convenient running tracks that are kind to these old bones.
For forgiveness and second chances
For queen sized beds
For Greyhounds and good beer
For Naramata Centre and the people I've come to know through those doors
For blogging
For the poor suckers reading these posts.
Not a complete list. Just an exercise.
Peace

Not a happy Friday
So I lied.
thought it was getting better, but I don't think it is. If anyone has need of a stage manager, I'm officially looking.

Happy Friday
Well folks,
its been a fairly easy week. It feels strange to even type that. We've been rehearsing all week, and despite the normal theatre troubleshooting and antics, we've done well to get the understudy shows sorted.
We have a few more tech adjustments to make next week, but it feels like this show is finally on the right track.
Guess I'll be staying on.
Tomorrow is my day off and I intend to do a whole lot of nothing. At least, nothing crazy.
I apologize for the lack of interesting blogging stories this week, but trust me that is a good thing.
It was recommended that I do at least one irresponsible thing each day, as I count down the end of this decade, but that's been a lot harder than I imagined.
I've stayed up late, does that count?
Maybe I'll try to come up with something entertaining tomorrow.
Maybe I wont make my bed in the morning.
peace

TWO MoNthS!
So folks,
we've made it through one more month of this adventure. YAy! Only 4 more to go...
We are also in our final week of rehearsals, here's hoping. We are working to get all the understudy bits in order and then the show should be set in place and running. This has felt like the longest rehearsal process/ Tech process I've ever worked on and I am really starting to feel the fatigue of it. Soon I should have a more normal routine and some more down time to do other things. Whew!
The sad part about working this week is that I am missing all the hockey festivities. Maybe the Canucks can make the play offs again next year too?
Though I did make it to Van this past weekend and had a jam packed fun and festive day off.
My Kamloops roomie and I road tripped out to Van after Fridays show (rockin out to an eclectic mix the whole way) and arrived in the wee hours on Saturday morning. Then we had a little sleep and then got up and made our way to the Mall to do some shopping.
Now, I hate shopping and I hate malls, but it needed to be done and I was very grateful to have a friend along with me in order to minimize the tediousness of the ordeal.
Overall it was a successful shopping trip and now I do not need to go shopping again for a good long while. THANkS E!

| And then we found some nice summer wear and more work blacks |
Then we busted a move to the Legion near my house to watch the hockey Game!! Good times and beer were had by all. L won the veggie basket raffle. YAy. (Cmax was crossing her fingers for the meat basket, but it wasn't meant to be). There was a band afterward; so we stayed and danced with a few of the seniors and then headed out (despite much lamenting) to check out the party down town.
The Down Town core is ridiculous!! Tons of people, tons of music, police, costumes and celebration. It was also apparent that the Canuck franchise has done very well with merchandising this year.
We made some more new friends, drank some more beer and then finally rolled back home to bed just after 3am.
Crazy fun.
Thanks friends for such a rambunctious day off. It was much needed. And though work felt somewhat painful on Sunday, it was soooo worth it.
So now on to Month number 3! Bring it on!

grumpy pants
So I've been super grumpy the past couple of days.
I blame sleep deprivation and my stupid job.
I am trying to pull some positivity back before people start arriving this afternoon.
Today is our q-to-q, round two. Boo. Once was bad enough for this show. Same problems, same stupid lights, same lack of a TD or PM...
Next week we do this all again, for one more time, for the understudy show. After that, I refuse to put in any more extra hours except to maintain the show we've got. If they want to keep working, fine, but I'm not giving them any more grace with my free time. Actors/ Tech/ Music/ Design... they all have caps on their hours or are being paid by the hour. I have neither, so extra work gets delegated to me cause its free and easy.
That's when I turn into a grumpy pants. So watch out!
Can I just say, its strange that everyone working on this show, EVERYONE, has some sort of back up, understudy, replacement or contingency plan, just in case.
I asked the stupid question, "So what happens if I can't come in one day?"
response, "Oh, well you just HAVE to come every day."
me, "Well, what if I CAN'T?"
Apparently, some one else will just step in ( no run down or training necessary) and just do my job. Easy.
I'm tempted to just not show up one day just to see how that plans works out for them.
In better news, I'm headed to van again this weekend. Hoping to play a little Mario party, see some friends, do a little shopping (necessary, not voluntary). YAY!
It helped to put me in better spirits last time, so here's hoping.
K, enough procrastinating, let's get these Q's cueing !

still sailing
Well folks,
It has been a busy week.

| I was a mini golf shark!!! |
And Then back to the grind
So we've gone back into full rehearsal mode while still running the show in the evening. Surprisingly only minor confusion has ensued. Next week we move into tech again and hopefully the show will be up and running and finished by the end of the week. Whew! Then I'll get a day off, thank heavens.
For the most part it seems like the drama has settled which feels like a positive step in the right direction. I really don't trust anyone working on this project as far as I can throw them, but I'm taking each day as it comes and I think that's really all I can do.
So we're still sailing, at least for now.

Cmax the Rock
For today's blog, let's talk about strength.
'You are a strong person', 'stay strong', 'You are a rock'
I am strong, but not for the reasons that you think I am. Please do not misinterpret my workaholic tendencies, my emotional dissociation, my stubbornness, my complete self sufficiency, my oxen-like muscles, my superhero powers or my wanna be perfectionism, for strength.
Those are not proud skills, or values that I hold dear. They are dysfunction. They are how I survive. And really at this point in the production, that is all I am trying to do.
Today, (and its not over yet) has been hard. I hate this show. I see no good reason to be here, no valuable learning, no networking opportunities, no faithful calling, just a never ending flow of crap that is sucking the life right out of me.
so what to do?

Here we go
So I've finally unpacked! its nice to feel settled and not be living out of suitcases anymore. whew!
And I'm all psyched up for the craziness of our upcoming week.
I've found a couple of good TED talks to guide our way and I've spend a lot of time watching 'inside the actors studio' with excellent comedians. Hopefully some of that wisdom has sunk in and I'll be able to offer some useful guidance.
I'm taking to calling myself the Theatre Facilitator, rather than Stage Manager or Director or...
I'm gonna head in there, ask a bunch of questions and let the talent, well, be talented and I'll just help shape them. That's sort of the best approach I can come up with at this point.
I think the greater challenge will be handling the powers that be and all the personality, while also integrating our new cast member into the mix.
Its a good thing that I can be clear and outspoken when I need to be. And also I think having a heart of stone will help too.
In other fun news,
I now own a 'I love JB' bracelet. If you're not quite as cool as me and haven't yet heard of these beautifying bangles I'll explain. They are essentially glorified rubber bands, in shapes of different phrases of adoration for Justin Bieber. I have yet to actually listen to any of his music, but I'm told he is very popular, and now I can be popular too, cause I have one of his bracelets.
ps This was a gift from one of the cast to help cheer me up and give me strength after our last director drama
later friends!

sinking ship
*disclaimer: its very late (or early depending on how you look at it) and I have been drinking, because on days like today, what else can you do really?*
So I went away to Vancouver, cleared my head and had some much needed R and R. I actually got some sleep and everything. I was also reminded just how wonderful my friends are. Love you folks ;)
When I returned to Kamloops I felt prepared to handle whatever this town had to throw at me. And for the first couple of days it really seemed like things were starting to improve. The performances were stronger, and everything was starting to come together.
No major drama
even a bit routine
I get to the theatre around 4:30pm to start preset for a show that starts between 8:40 and 9:15pm. If you've ever worked on a show, I don't have to tell you, that is bordering on ridiculous. But I do it anyway, cause there is that much work to be done and I can't seem to slack off even if I want to.
Then today, my job got that much harder.
Buddy pushed too far as I understand it and we lost our director. Normally after a show opens I would say 'whatever', but we are still working the show and we have a new cast member arriving next week and the director was going to come back to 'direct' those rehearsals.
I am now officially a one woman army.
I have been painfully clear with the company with regards to the role of the SM and what I am prepared and not prepared to do. And yet, I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place. Who fills the void? We don't have a director, musical director, choreographer, playwright, dramaturge, designer, PM...
When the question was asked in our meeting this evening, all eyes looked to me... you?
No.
So then what, it becomes a collective creation with a room full of producers watching from the sidelines adding their two cents when they feel moved? I'm not interested in being in the room during those rehearsals. boo. I am certain that with that approach, the bottom of this ship will be blown out from under us and we will all sink.
I'm not quite sure how these next few weeks will pan out, but I think my work load and my job description just got a lot heftier. I think I might start by finding some good TED talks ( a good director introduced me to those once) and then I think we should return to the beginning. What is the story that we are trying to tell? What do you want?
Bloody hell.
The funny thing about being the last woman standing on the design/ production team is that suddenly I am a hero without even trying and everything I do is golden (even the way in which I braid my hair). lol
flattery will get you everywhere.
So that's the news on the Kamloops front. I need to jet though, reports to write and whatnot...

ONe Month down
Well folks,
today marks one full month since my departure from Vancouver. I can't believe its only been one month, it feels MUCH longer...
So to celebrate, I'm trying to get out of town for a couple of days, visit friends in Van, eat some sushi, play some video games, sleep in my own bed. *sigh* If I can extradite myself from the drama then I plan to get on a bus after tonight's show. We may be loosing a cast member for a couple of days because of a family emergency; so its possible that I'll have to stick around to get the understudy show ready to run. I hope not, I hope we don't need to, for everyone's sake.
I find it surprising how accommodating I am when it comes to my colleague's personal lives. When people are legitimately tired, or sick, or grief stricken, I really do adjust work responsibilities around their needs. And I do it without resentment and without thinking that they should check their personal lives at the door.
I had a director tell me that once.
That professionalism in the theatre meant checking your personal baggage at the door.
I believe I've really taken that to heart. I might take that too far sometimes.
What's the difference between 'life happening' and 'personal baggage'?
I've worked with creeps without thinking to tell someone. I've worked through illness, injury, fatigue. I've missed funerals, family events, I'll be missing weddings.
...
I literally just got interrupted by buddy freaking out about 'the show must go on!!!' that was a fun conversation.
.....
So when does the show NOT go on? Why do we break our backs and our psyches for THE SHOW. Why have I boughten into that philosophy so completely and at such personal cost? Yes, theatre is a different animal than other jobs. Yes, it is a team sport. But at some point our lives have to matter more than the show.
I think its easy for me to believe that other people's lives matter more than the show, but not so easy for me to believe that about my own. I think there is a lesson there.

Moved!
I'm still working to get internet set up; so please bare with me. We have moved. It was a long couple of days, but still Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than my last moving experience * ;) L*
Here is the weekend synopsis.
Pack, pack, pack
Clean, clean, clean
Move, Move, Move
CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN!
First night home and alone, Cmax gets locked INSIDE the house.
Complete Panic
Cmax breaks OUT of the house.
Next day harass landlords till they fix front deadbolt. (this is a serious fire hazard and everyone should have properly functioning locks on their doors. *ahem* *cough* oh cousin J!)
Clean, clean, clean continued.
Clean, clean, clean..... clean.
Flare....
....damnit.

TaDa!
All my buddies have left the building!!!!!!!!!!
(enter sigh of relief)
The show is up and running now. We had a better night last night, thank goodness.
Today we did understudy rehearsals and they were actually quite fun and now I have a whole weekend off. I cannot begin to tell you how happy that makes me.
Tomorrow we move and I think once I actually unpack I'll start to feel a lot more settled and at peace with this whole "adventure".
So worry not friends, I'm perfectly fine.
Love you all

OPEN
We have opened. We are also still rehearsing.
Some is understudy work and the rest working notes that have already been worked. Ugh.
There are some rumours regarding the future of the production, but I'm not sure how imminent those changes would be.
Today is my day off. I tried hard to avoid work, but in the end I needed to get a bit of work done for tomorrow. I might be all talk when it comes to setting healthy work boundaries. I am usually very clear at the start as to what my work boundaries are, but at the end of the day they really don't seem to count for much. I just do what needs to be done and expect a thank you. I get frustrated when work is given to me because others are tired or sleep deprived. Not that I doubt everyone's exhaustion on this show, but I'm not the exception to that, it just doesn't impact my work. Maybe it should.
Perhaps one day I will be a well adjusted and balanced individual who doesn't mistake work for an identity and doesn't measure their worth by their time card. If my friends weren't also workaholics, I'd ask for their advice. ;)
I did do other stuffs today.
I slept some, packed some and hung out with my Kamloops roomie for a bit. We went through some Winter Session 02 memorabilia and discussed the things that have stuck almost 10 years later. Its funny what sticks and what doesn't. I didn't really go to WS to learn communication skills, but for me, in the end that has been the greatest gift of that program. It helps me deal with conflict better than most (which is why I tend to get stuck with conflict resolution in the workplace). My Kamloops roomie, E, is a mom of 2 small children and I love to watch her parent; cause I can see those same communication skills at work.
E and I are moving this weekend! YAy! I love moving! This isn't my house; so I'm trying to control my packing OCD as best I can. E is more of a wait till the move day, throw it in a box, go, kind of mover. This seems to work for her; so that's what we're gonna do.
talk again soon. peace

Q-to-Q
Well folks we're in the final push, the 11th hour (more like the 14th hour today).
I've had a few verrrrrrrrrry long days, some parts expected, others not.
Here are some fun bits
- our lighting console does not have a fade function, so all the cues are snap cues. boo
- I had to resort to working on the set using only my leatherman
- I had a G-d mic that I got to use all day to yell at people and occasionally damn them to hell
- Our lovely designer had to wing his design; so our q-to-q, I was just guessing
Can I just say this. PMs or TDs, really shouldn't be optional positions when planning to put on a show. This whole, 'well I'll do this, you can do that and we'll catch it all' business is really, really (and unnecessarily) stressful and does not save money in the end. Hire a PM/ TD.
Rant over.
We open Tues. YAY! and then I'm hoping things will settle a little bit. It doesn't look like I'll be over to Van in April though, :( My kamloops roomie, E, and I will be moving this upcoming weekend; so I'll have to try to get away the following weekend.
We're still deciding where we will be moving too, but I don't care too much; so I'm feeling surprisingly easy going about the situation. I need transit, and laundry, and not a basement (cause they are generally full of spiders and I'm hoping to miss spider season this summer).
I'll let you folks know how that goes and where I end up.
Well, I should get back to work. I've got 1more lengthy day tomorrow and tons of prep to do before then.
talk to you soon
peace

ridiculoops
sigh...........
I'm grateful to have a lovely Kamloops roomie, but seriously......
sigh............
I miss Vancouver.
I love theatre, but not drama.
I know I'm funny about rules, I get annoyed easily, I criticize quickly and can be a real pain in the @ss, but you've never seen me angry. Not this kind of angry.
I am not a doormat (not like you ever thought I was), but I also don't stand idly by and watch others treated as such. Do not expect diplomacy in the face of injustice, you wont get that from me.
I know your kind, and you make me sick to my stomach.

Stay positive
be positive, be positive, be positive, be positive.....
This too shall pass,
really its closer to 5months now than six
be positive, be positive,
Something good will come of this, trust your gut, wait for it
wait for it,
You're learning
You're learning to be more flexible, more adaptable, more durable, more self sufficient
You know yourself well enough to know, you only learn the hard way;
so trust these lessons will stick
be positive ... be positive
suck it up princess,
do your job.

sleepless in Kamloops
I had big plans last night to get a bunch of sleep in after a long week. Not so much.
For those of you who know me (and I assume that would be pretty much everyone reading this blog), you know that I can't stand to watch violence on TV, never mind listen to it through the bedroom wall. The walls where I am staying are thin, granted, but they were fighting so intensely next door, that said walls were actually shaking. When it reached the point of furniture breaking, I phoned the police and then spent the next 20mins relaying the play-by-play from my ear-to-wall espionage.
The police came. Things got quiet. They left. And then there were people poking around outside my suit. I opted to rig up my computer to film the door and then decided to try to go to sleep. I ended up getting very little.
I have this much to say about violence. It sucks.
and to my neighbours, I hope you're alright and shut the f@#kety, f&*k up.
Today is my day off. Much needed and well deserved. Its been a long first week of rehearsals and I anticipate much of the same for the upcoming week before we open. Today I did some shopping in Kamloops, ooo la la. I bought a black scarf (cause the theatre is sooooooo cold!!) and a bamboo cutting board for meat free cutting. As a side note, on my travels I came across some very realistic plastic wine and martini glasses at superstore. Kitchen Korner be damned!
I then had coffee at starbucks, cause it reminds me of home (and cause I'm mad at Tim Horton's for the moment). And now that I'm back home I'm going to entertain psycho cat for a bit, watch Biggest Loser and write on my blog. check.
Just so everyone knows, my phone is sorted now, same number, but unlimited long distance and no roaming; so I expect to start chatting more on my phone. (I promise to try and answer if you phone me)
As for free time. I might be able to sneak away for a couple of days at the end of April; so if you live in the Vancouver area, speak to L, she will be coordinating my social calendar. Thanks L.
I am also looking into getting a camera while I'm staying here and would love input if folks have any suggestions for a non-camera person such as myself. That way I can capture all these lovely kodak moments of my adventure and add them to my scrapbook.
So with that, I'll sign off. I hope you are all fairing well on your own adventures.
Peace

Top 10
K; so I am finding myself grumbling along as trudge to work and back and have realized that I need an attitude adjustment. Here are 10 good things (in no particular order) about Kamloops.
1. I always get a seat on the bus
2. My neighbours actually say hello to me and treat me... well... neighbourly.
3. There is a lot of sky here, usually blue too.
4. It is very quiet at night
5. The bus drivers are friendly, ask me how my day is going and ask me where I'm from (cause I'm clearly not from here, apparently)
6. There is a lack of pretension generally speaking
7. There are very few by laws
8. I get to be the educational spokeswoman for vegetarianism
9. I am learning to cross big roads without the assistance of a crosswalk and I feel wild and reckless!
10. No one knows me here; so I get to be whoever I want without explanation

G-d where were you?
The caverns of your sorrow must cut so deep, that only a world full of heaven could fill them.
My heart breaks for you
And I'm here for you
You are loved.
Never forget that,
You are loved.

new feline friend
I would like to introduce you to my new feline friend...moggie... I think that's her name? I like to call her parrot, cause I think she's confused.
'Cat's belong on the floor,' I tell her, but she continues to leap at me and try to sit on my shoulder. She makes Ernie and Peppy seem aloof.

Well I've arrived. It's dark, it's cold and I can see the stars here. I'm reeling a little. In the matter of just a couple weeks my world has been pulled apart and ever so strangely stitched back together. Kamloops feels a bit like Mars or Calgary or oddly enough, like a throw back to the eighties.
I'm being kept company by a tank of fish tonight. They are surprisingly loud, as far as fish go anyway.
I would really like to get some sleep, but that's seems unlikely; so I've plunged into some work to get myself set for tomorrow.
Tomorrow is first read, I'll get to meet all these people that I'll be managing for the next six months. I'll see if I can't figure out the buses and I'll get my phone sorted too.
I plan to keep my same number, but different plan; so hopefully I'll be chatting on the phone plenty.
Thank you friends for your patience and assistance this week, I made it safely and with my sanity in tact. And at the end of the day I'm very glad that my 'F' beat out my 'T' and I have my afghan with me. Thanks L.

Prepare Ye
Hi Friends,
So I'm packing, cleaning, preparing, stressing, organizing, labeling, arranging...
for the big move to Kamloops.
In an effort to stay connected to my beloved friends and family and my fair city of Vancouver, I am starting this blog. Now, we all know that I'm not very good at staying in touch, or answering my phone, or replying to emails, but I promise I will try very, very hard to make a go of this whole blog business.
I've made the blog page, that's a good first step.
But seriously, I do have to get back to the packing.....
but stay tuned for more as the adventure unravels!
